Places to Go & Things to Do
Adventure Science Center – Adventure’s kid oriented exhibits and planetarium make science fun. My boys’ favorite is the Adventure Tower in the center with multiple hands-on activities spanning 3 floors of the museum. A toddler area gives Rachel her own place to play. Homeschoolers can purchase the yearly membership with the teacher family discount. Adventure also offers HomesCOOL classes which we hope to take advantage of this year. Read more blog entries about our visits.
Nashville Zoo – After the giant play area called the Jungle Gym, I think the meerkats win as our favorite exhibit. The Zoo also offers its educator discount to homeschoolers.
Centennial Park – Centennial Park is so big I don’t know everything that is in it. Near the parking lot of the Parthenon (which we haven’t toured yet) is a small lake with friendly ducks Jack loves to feed. I another area a large playground is available. We like this park for picnicking when we are in the area.
Ice Skating at Centennial Sportsplex – Homeschoolers can skate during morning public skate sessions at a discounted rate (currently $4).
